What's New?With effect from 1st October 2009 the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office has introduced various changes in their fees and services which we would like you to be aware. Fees Firstly to encourage more use of electronic e-filing, the amount of the official fees for filing a Trade Mark application in one class of goods or services has been reduced by £30 to £170.
If an application is filed in more than one class of goods or services the discount will be applied to the total cost of the official fees.
Service
One of the features of the current United Kingdom system is the ability to file a Trade Mark for a “Series”. This consists of a number of Trade Marks which are essentially the same and where differences are not considered significant.
For example you can file the same Mark in “CAPITAL” letters as well as “lower case” and in “italics”.
From 1st October 2009, the maximum number of Marks in a series cannot exceed six.
The first two Marks which form the series will incur no additional official fees. However official fees of £50 have been introduced and which are payable for each additional Mark in the series (e.g. 3, 4, 5 and 6).
We would be happy to advise further on this and any other query that you may have in relation to the protection of your Trade Mark and other Intellectual Property Rights. |
